Golf Australia Express : October 2014
the gear T HE USGA's rule change on grooves has done little to stem the performance of sand-savers. You need only look at Mizuno's latest line of MP-T5 wedges to see that. And the newest instalment of these wedges from Mizuno is arguably its best. With lofts ranging from 49 to 62 degrees, the MP-T5 offers 25 combinations of loft and bounce. Throw in five sole grinds and a couple of plated finishes (black or white satin) and you're starting to feel pretty spoiled for choice around the greens. What makes the MP-T5 stand out is its quality — its carbon-steel forging is highly (and widely) regarded, while Mizuno's precision CNC milled process ensures real consistency from wedge to wedge. Loft-specific grooves in the MP-T5 — which are wider and shallower in the 54-62 degree range yet deeper and narrower from 49 to 53 degrees — create a different performance on full and half shots.
