BIG BERTHA ALPHA 815 OVERVIEW HERE. ALPHA 815 DOUBLE BLACK DIAMOND HERE. DOUBLE TROUBLE CALLAWAY BIG BERTHA ALPHA 815 DRIVERS C allaway says its latest driver release creates an entirely new category as much as being an addition to the company’s array of ‘big sticks’. The Big Bertha Alpha 815 provides the twin benefits of low spin and forgiveness, which are usually mutually exclusive characteristics in drivers. The sibling to the Alpha 815 is the Big Bertha Alpha 815 Double Black Diamond, a driver aimed at better players looking to maximise distance through extremely low spin. A lighter, more stable face is the secret. Callaway’s RMOTO Technology provides the structure to save weight and allow an ultra-thin face that maintains stability and delivers high ball speeds across the clubface. The Gravity Core introduced in the original Big Bertha Alpha driver returns, letting golfers independently adjust launch and spin based on impact location. Two weight ports (seven grams and one gram) allow golfers to set the driver to neutral, draw or fade bias. And there’s Callaway’s OptiFit hosel, providing eight ways to adjust loft, lie and face angle. Driving this engine is a Fujikura Speeder 565 shaft. The “experts only” version, the Double Black Diamond, is Callaway’s lowest spinning driver ever. Club champs and super-low handicappers that generate high ball speeds and hit the ball with the centre of the clubface most of the time will gravitate towards this option. The technology favours better golfers, while the shape of the crown and face angle will suit these players’ eyes. Capping it off is an Aldila Rogue Silver shaft. Matching Big Bertha 815 fairway woods and hybrids will also be available from late November, before the rest of the world. OTG Available Lofts: 9°, 10.5° and 12° (except in the Double Black Diamond version), right- and left-handed. Available late November; $550 ($620 for the Double Black Diamond) the
