Golf Australia Express : OTG Express 123
P ING’S most successful, timeless and Tour-proven head designs are showcased in five new Karsten TR putters featuring True Roll technology. Variable-depth grooves are milled directly into the face to aid distance control. These grooves are deepest in the centre and shallower towards the perimeter for improved ball-speed consistency and distance control, while an elastomer back-cavity insert enhances sound and feel for valuable auditory feedback. Comprising the Karsten TR (True Roll) line is the Anser 2 (345 grams), B60 (345g) and PAL (360g), which all favour a slight arc stroke. The Anser 5 (365g) favours a straight stroke, while the Zing (350g) favours a strong arc stroke. All Karsten TR putters are adjustable plus or minus four degrees from the standard lie angle, and are available in a fixed-length shaft (35 inches is standard) or an adjustable version that can be modified between 31 inches and 38 inches to optimise fitting accuracy before a round. The Scottsdale TR adjustable-length putters feature a variable-depth groove insert that Ping says increases ball-speed consistency by nearly 50 percent, with the insert milled from lightweight aerospace-grade aluminium for a solid feel and sound. The R&A/USGA- conforming shaft adjusts from 31 to 38 inches in standard models (optional), belly models from 37.5 to 46.5 inches and long models from 44.5 to 55.5 inches. Colour-coded shaft labels identify each putter as fitting a straight, slight arc or strong arc putting stroke (and some models fit all three). The Senita B counter-balanced putter provides the feel and performance of a belly putter without anchoring. Its 38-inch standard shaft has a 50g weight inside the grip end of the shaft to counter-balance the 400g head. The weight in the shaft creates a high balance point, which encourages a pendulum-like stroke and helps release the putterhead. Designed into the 17-inch grip are reference lines for the player to position his or her hands to optimise the benefits of counter- balancing. An adjustable-length shaft is optional and the Senita B can be ordered with one of three shaft bends to fit any stroke type.
