Golf Australia Express : OTG Express 123
RELEASED this Friday – the same day as its much-vaunted 915 driver line debuts at retail – are Titleist’s new 915 fairway woods and hybrids, which when combined with the driver create a strong arsenal of weapons from the tee and fairway. Primary to the technology of the 915 fairways and hybrids is the new Active Recoil Channel as well as an ultra- thin clubface that Titleist says delivers lower spin and higher speed for superior distance in a forgiving, high moment-of-inertia design. The proprietary Active Recoil Channel actively flexes at impact to launch the ball off the clubface with higher speed and lower spin. A high-strength, uniformly thin, high-speed face insert was also developed to increase ball speed across the clubface, while both the fairway woods and hybrids incorporate a precise, high moment-of-inertia construction with a low centre of gravity location that delivers stability and forgiveness by preserving ball speed across the face for greater distance. What hasn’t changed from the 913 versions is Titleist’s SureFit Tour Hosel, which allows golfers to adjust their clubs to any one of 16 different lie and loft configurations to suit their ball flight. Both the 915F fairways and 915H hybrids produce higher launch and more spin than the lower-launch, lower-spin 915Fd and 915Hd models, which are available as alternatives. The more compact Fd and Hd options will suit players looking for more workability in their fairway and hybrid clubs. In the hybrids, the design of the 915Hd clubhead features a slightly offset profile compared to the more rounded shape of the 915H.
