the GEAR ALL ABOUT SOLE PING TOUR WEDGES Available now; ping.com “OF ALL THE HAZARDS, FEAR IS THE WORST.” Sam Snead CHAMPIONS OF YOUR GAME. T HE highly personal nature of selecting the best wedges to suit your game is an artform in itself. Ping’s Tour wedges combine the company’s ‘Gorge’ groove technology with three different sole widths to achieve the ideal combination for each golfer’s swing and the turf and sand characteristics of their home course. Gorge grooves are precision-milled at Ping to hold very tight tolerances for ensuring maximum spin. Combined with the correct sole options, Tour wedges optimise control and consistency. Gorge groove technology starts with what Ping calls arguably the most precise milling process in the industry. By milling the grooves itself, the company can hold very tight tolerances to ensure maximum spin. By managing the process, Ping can achieve the optimal size and shape of grooves for generating consistent, reliable spin and trajectories. The three sole widths are: TS (Thin Sole), which has the least bounce and is best for shallow swings and firm sand or turf conditions; SS (Standard Sole), which offers medium bounce and performs from most turf conditions and for most swing styles; while WS (Wide Sole) has the most bounce and is exceptional in softer sand and turf conditions, or for golfers with a steep angle of attack. As for working out which is best, look to your divots for feedback. If you take deep divots, the WS sole will help prevent excessive digging. But if your divots are shallower, the TS sole will help you get the lead edge under the ball more easily and impart spin. OTG View the Image Gallery All Tour wedges are fitted with PING’s CFS shafts. TS wedges come in 58° and 60° lofts; SS in 47°, 50°, 52°, 54°, 56°, 58° and 60° lofts; WS in 54°, 56°, 58° and 60° lofts. All Tour wedges are available in right- and left-handed options.
