SCOTT’S CUT STREAK ENDS THE longest streak between missed cuts on the PGA Tour – 45 events – came to a shuddering halt at the weekend with the early departure of Adam Scott. The World No.4 Scott missed four putts inside five feet in the second round and shot a four over 75 to miss the cut – his first since the Byron Nelson Championship in May 2012. 'It had to happen eventually,'' he said. Scott used a conventional putter with a claw grip for the second consecutive week after having used an anchored long putter for the past four years. He tied for fourth in his 2015 debut – and his debut with a short putter – last week in the Cadillac Championship. Tour veterans Steve Stricker (35) and Jim Furyk (32) now own the longest active cut streaks on the PGA Tour. _______________________________ WORK BEGINS ON NEW BRISBANE COURSE CONSTRUCTION of Brisbane’s first public golf course in 70 years, is expected to begin mid-year. Brisbane City Council says it has negotiated a deal with developers, BMD Group, to pay for the creation of the Cannon Hill Links in exchange for land it will use to establish a housing development. The course, designed by Pacific Coast Design, will be built on wetlands and is expected to open in 2018 "This development will deliver the Southside's first public golf course at no cost to ratepayers, with the golf course to be funded entirely from the proceeds of a residential development," Lord Mayor Graham Quirk said. _______________________________ OPEN TRIBUTE FOR NAGLE THE traditional Champion Golfers’ Challenge on the eve of this year’s Open Championship at St Andrews will see a tribute paid to Centenary Champion, Kel Nagle, who passed away in January. The event will also see two of the game’s greatest players – Peter Thomson and Tom Watson – celebrate historic milestones in their remarkable careers.
