Golf Australia Express : OTG Express 150 - US Open Preview
8th 614 yards (561 metres), par-5 T HIS ridgetop par-5 runs along one of the high points of the course and will likely play across wind. The straight fairway is characterised by a ledge that wants to push balls towards the right rough, while the natural flow of the land also cants that way. Most intriguing about this long hole? There’s not a bunker in sight. 9th 217/224 yards (198/205 metres), par-3 N O HOLE better illustrates Chambers Bay’s versatility than the 9th. This par-3 features two tees set at completely different angles and positioned at vastly different heights. One day the field will play a ‘parachute shot’ from a tee 30 metres above the green and the next an uphill salvo from nearly 20 metres below it. A sprawling nest of front bunkers defends a green complex shaped to allow balls to bounce in from the sides.
