MEMBER ROUNDS HIT A HIGH NOTE PARTICIPATION by golf club members is on the rise across Australia with an increased number of competition rounds played in the past financial year. The latest national competition rounds report released by the Australian Golf Industry Council (AGIC) produced some positive information for those in the golf industry. Across Australia about 14.4 million rounds of golf were played in the 2014/2015 financial year which was a 3.6 percent increase over the same 12-month period in the year prior. “This is a fantastic result for the entire golf industry,” said Brian Thorburn, chairman of the AGIC and CEO of the PGA of Australia. “More competition rounds being played helps every area of the industry and will ensure golf in Australia continues to thrive. MORE> ______ ______ ______ ______ ______ _____ PING IN THE SWING PING’s G30 driver continued its streak as the top-selling driver model in golf, increasing its market shares in units and dollars in June while marking the fifth consecutive month that more G30 units were sold than any other model, according to Golf Datatech LLC, which tracks golf equipment sell-through data for the United States. In June, the G30 driver’s leading market shares were 14.32 per cent (units) and 18.80 per cent (dollars). Both market share numbers are the highest for any month since the driver’s introduction more than a year ago. For June, 62 per cent more G30 driver units were sold than the next closest driver model. It also maintained its position as the top-selling model of 2015, selling 44 per cent more units than its closest competitor from January through June.
