DOOR SHUTS ON GRAND SLAM NEXT month’s PGA Grand Slam of Golf – the exclusive, four-man event for the four reigning major champions – has been cancelled by the PGA of America for this year. Jason Day, along with Jordan Spieth and Zach Johnson, will miss out on contesting a tournament that has traditionally further rewarded major winners since 1979. MORE> ____ ______ ______ ______ ______ ____ ARNOLD ON TOP IN FRANCE SYDNEY’S Scott Arnold roared home over the closing nine holes to take his maiden European Challenge Tour title in a two-shot victory at the Cordon Golf Open in France. The former world No.1 amateur used a 3-under closing nine to move from three shots behind Dutchman Daan Huizing to two in front when all was said and done. Arnold collected €32,000 and moved to 18th in the secondary circuit’s Road to Oman, in sight of a top-15 promotion to the main circuit where he played in 2013. “It’s my first win on Challenge Tour so it’s really exciting,” Arnold said. “It’s my birthday next week so it’s like an early present. I have a flight to catch this afternoon; I think it’ll only hit me then. Arnold said his experience making the cut at the Open Championship at St Andrews and finishing joint 40th helped him remain focused over the closing stages. “When I played The Open this year, it really helped me. That was really good, I felt pretty comfortable out there. I was a little bit nervous today but it was more that I had to focus on what I was doing and hit some targets. “I looked at the leaderboard for the first time on my way to the 16th green and I saw that I had a two-shot lead, but I still had two holes to go so I was telling myself not to get carried away, because if you make one or two bad shots it can quickly turn into bogeys. So I’d rather make solid pars, hit the fairways, hit the greens. It would have been nice to finish with a birdie but I didn’t make the putt. It’s a very good day.” TRAPS AROUND the * Fathers Day Special * *Offer valid to the 30th November Swing like a BOSS SEE THE SWING BOSS IN ACTION
