Golf Australia Express : GA Express 180
GEORGELOPEZ KENNYG OFTEN regarded as the best player of all the celebrities to have contested the Pebble Beach, Grammy award-winning saxophonist Kenny G is considered better than a scratch player, and won the tournament in 2001 when paired with Phil Mickelson. Last year he was favoured to win again after being paired with Ian Poulter, but missed the cut by 11 strokes. Guess he couldn’t quite tune it in. KELLYSLATER ONE of the best celebrities ever to tee off at Pebble Beach, 11-time world surfing champion Kelly Slater has appeared at the pro-am plenty of times. He finished fourth at last year’s event alongside German pro Marcel Siem, but you could have been forgiven for forgetting who was the player doing this for a job. Slater did much of the scoring as the pair shot a 61 in the third round, making a mockery of the famously difficult layout. LOPEZ didn’t have far to travel to take part in the numerous pro- ams he contested at Pebble Beach over the years, given he’s a resident of the affluent seaside retreat. But mystery surrounds his axing from the lineup from the 2014 onwards, with rumours his brand of humour might have offended a few too many of the tournament’s top brass.
