Golf Australia Express : GA Express 209
EVER joked that you’re chipping for birdie? Rickie Fowler was probably dead serious if he made the same remark before he hit a high flop from 58 feet, with little green to work with, during the opening round of the 2014 Players Championship. BRILLIANT shots might be few and far between for Tiger Woods these days, but as he proved at last year’s Wyndham Championship, the old dog still has a few tricks left for special occasions, like when he’s 55 feet from the hole with only about 15 feet of green to work with. IT’S not often that a ball travels further vertically than it does horizontally, but when you’re Branden Grace at the Presidents Cup and you want to avoid a downslope just in front of your ball, why not blast the thing 30 feet in the air and stop it in less than a foot? GOOD flops aren’t only for the lads. Michelle Wie might be back on struggle street the last couple of seasons, but she can still pull out the occasional highlight, as evidenced by this effort at one of last year’s majors, the ANA Inspiration.
