FEATURE The HKGA is a National Sports Association formed in 1968 with a mission to govern, promote and grow golf in Hong Kong. Responsibilities include Hong Kong national teams; junior and elite player development; grassroots initiatives; a centralised handicapping service for 15,000+ subscribers; and the running of international and domestic golfing events in Hong Kong – including over 30 amateur tournaments each year plus the Hong Kong Open, the city’s oldest professional sporting event. The HKGA works closely with the golf clubs, public golf courses, driving ranges and governing bodies in Hong Kong as well as its corporation partners. The key areas of responsibility of this role will include: • Operational Direction • Financial Management / Fundraising and Financial Sustainability • Marketing and Program Management / Membership Services • External Stakeholder Management The Chief Executive Officer will be the public face of the Association and as such, the successful candidate will have the executive stature and organisational experience to fulfil the fundamental prerequisites of the role. This individual will be an avid golfer; possess a strong track record of effective financial management in addition to proven leadership skills and commercial acumen. A keen understanding of the local institutional environment of Hong Kong would be a practical advantage, as well as a tertiary education in Business or Finance. The ideal applicant must also be results oriented, determined, persistent and willing to drive for results through whatever obstacles are presented. Knowledge of Cantonese and Mandarin, while not an obligatory requirement, would be useful in the role.
