Golf Australia Express : GA Express 227
T HE celebrity when it comes to Pebble Beach, Murray is as much a part of the tournament’s fabric as the pro-am format itself. The tournament holds a spot for Murray every year and is always roundly rewarded with a performance by one of the world’s great showmen, even if his golf doesn’t always live up to the hype. That said, the man who played Carl Spackler in Caddyshack did win the pro-am with partner D.A . Points in 2011, so if the 66-year- old turns up in good nick this year, you just never know if another Cinderella story is around the corner. J USTIN TIMBERLAKE was one of the tournament’s biggest hits (pardon the pun) last year, when he teamed with Justin Rose and became an instant crowd favourite. He played an impromptu tune at the 16th hole when someone threw him a guitar and was a genuine crowd-pleaser. JT returns this year for another tilt with Justin Rose. It helps that he’s a single-digit handicapper, too. I F YOU’VE watched enough Entourage, you’ll already know Hollywood star MARK WAHLBERG loves golf and has a pretty decent swing, too. He’ll be at Pebble Beach again this year, but he might struggle to match his 2016 highlight reel, which had him almost draining a hole-in-one at the Monterey Peninsula course’s par- 3 third hole, as well as rolling in a monster putt at the 13th.
