Golf Australia Express : GA Express 233
If only it was possible to watch Hagen take on the modern day match play greats. In his day, no one came close. Hagen won the then match play-based PGA Championship five times in his first eight attempts, including four-in-a-row between 1924 and 1927 – which included 22 consecutive match victories. Hagen often didn’t even play well, but his ability to scramble like a demon and putt like the ball was on rails meant he was perfectly suited for the format. Underlining his dominance, he smashed Bobby Jones in a 72-hole contest billed as the “Match of the Century” in 1926. WALTER HAGEN When Ogilvy won his second WGC Match Play title in 2009, his record at the event stood at a ridiculous 17-2 . Two titles and a runner-up result in four years will do that. Then in the form of his life, Ogilvy hasn’t scaled those heights since, but he remains one of the best singles players ever to have graced a course. GEOFF OGILVY HIGHLIGHTS OF OGILVY'S 2009 WGC WIN
