Golf Australia Express : GA Express 239
A golfer’s paradise, Cobram Barooga Golf Club has it all. Stay right next door overlooking the fairways at Bridges 4.5 star Villas. Take a look aT our winTer golf package > I T TOOK guts to do what Cameron Smith did at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, in capturing his first PGA Tour title. That’s “guts” both figuratively and literally, given it was intestinal issues that derailed his 2016 season and six months ago saw him scrambling through the web.com Tour finals in order to make it back onto the PGA Tour this year. Smith is the new posterchild for how quickly fortunes can change in golf. A sparkling debut PGA Tour season in 2014-15 that included a fourth-place finish at his first crack at the US Open had him poised for huge things at just 21 years old. But when an intestinal illness hit him hard last year, he lost 8kg off his already slender frame, and his game suffered accordingly. At one point he missed six cuts in eight events and saw his ranking plummet outside the world’s top 200. Forced to re-qualify for the PGA Tour through the web.com Tour finals, he finished seventh and was among the 25 players handed a PGA Tour card again for 2017.
