Golf Australia Express : GA Express 240
Martin Kaymer Bubba Watson THE German comes a little from left field, perhaps, but bear with us. MARTIN KAYMER can’t get enough of TPC Sawgrass, having made the cut eight consecutive times – in stark contrast to most of the world’s top players, who almost to a man have mixed impressive results with missed cuts here. He has the best Players record of anyone in the field, he won in 2014 and tied the course record of 63 in the process. His results mightn’t have set the world on fire this year, but he hasn’t missed a cut in more than 12 months and will be in the thick of it this weekend. IT’S the morbid curiosity factor that makes BUBBA WATSON interesting viewing this week. A year ago he was locked in at No.4 in the world rankings, but fast forward to this week and he sits 26th, having barely troubled the scorers all year, including a couple of missed cuts and a withdrawal. And The Players isn’t exactly his happiest hunting ground – at one point Watson was happy to give the event a miss two years out of five, and he was T-43 last year. Watch with interest.
