Golf Australia Express : GA Express 244
D ESIGNED to complement the existing Epic drivers, fairways and newly released irons the Epic hybrid does more than just borrow the Epic name, incorporating technologies used in the popular drivers and latest irons. Utilising the driver’s Triaxial Carbon Composite technology, the crown of the Epic hybrid is both the thinnest and lightest – just 5 grams – material that Callaway has ever used. The weight saved allows Callaway to re-distribute weight in the head strategically to increase the moment of inertia (MOI) for enhanced forgiveness and lower the centre of gravity (CG) for improved launch characteristics. To further optimise the MOI and CG, the company has borrowed the industry first Metal Injection Moulded process from the Epic irons. 35g Internal Standing Wave shapes, made from tungsten powder, are robotically laser-welded into the head to maximise MOI and further lower CG. The thin rim of the 455 Forged Hyper Speed Face Cup flexes and releases more uniformly and efficiently across the face, for increased ball speed, especially on mis-hits.
