RORY MCILROY Call to book today (03) 5978 8470 Or book online at www.devilbendgolf.com.au Midweek 18 holes $30 Weekend 18 holes $39 Social clubs can book for $35 p.p. every Sunday AGE: 28 COUNTRY: Northern Ireland WORLD RANKING: 2 WHY HE CAN WIN: DESPITE returning from a rib injury for the second time, Rory McIlroy must be considered among the hot chances at Erin Hills. The four-time major champion hasn’t missed a cut in his limited 2017, returning a worst result of T-35th at The Players, mixed in with four finishes of T-7 or higher. McIlroy is among the premier drivers and ball-strikers in the world and should find Erin Hills perfectly to his liking. The links-style design should suit the eye of the Northern Irishman in the same way that the required aerial approaches into many of the raised greens will suit his ball-flight. McIlroy is nearing his ‘golfing prime’ posing a scary prospect for the rest of the world’s top players who, aside from perhaps Dustin Johnson, struggle to match his tee-to-green game when he is firing on all cylinders. The only lingering doubt for McIlroy this week is whether he has enough tournament golf in his legs. KEY STAT: Scoring average of 69.312 on the PGA Tour, good enough for 2nd (had he played enough rounds to qualify).
