Golf Australia Express : GA Express 249
J UST about every big-name player will be in attendance, including 10 former US Open champions, headlined by 2016 winner Brittany Lang. Got to tip your hat to Cristie Kerr and our own Karrie Webb, who will both line up for their 22nd appearance at the event. Webb’s achievement is even more remarkable, given hers has been in consecutive years. Also impressive is 19-year-old amateur Mariel Galdiano, who despite not yet turning professional will be playing in her fourth US Open. The Hawaiian prodigy debuted as a 13-year-old in 2011 and also competed in 2013 and 2015, claiming low amateur honours in 2015 after finishing T-42. AS FAR as facilities go, the course is about as good as it gets. Two driving ranges, a 16-acre practice facility, five putting greens, an indoor golf training centre, a swimming pool and a helipad complement the two 18-hole courses. THE estate on which the golf club sits was once owned by John DeLorean, the man those DeLorean cars made famous in the Back to the Future films. The property was sold to a developer at a bankruptcy auction in 2000, and Trump bought it in 2002, turning DeLorean’s old house into what is today the course’s clubhouse. PRESIDENT Trump’s daughter, Ivanka, married the Prez’s special advisor Jared Kushner at the club in 2009. LIKE WHAT YOU SEE? BETTER START SAVING.
