GEAR THE Great gets better TITLEIST VOKEY DESIGN SM7 WEDGES Available now SRP: $229 each (steel shafts); $269 (graphite). www.titleist.com.au VIDEO: HOW CRAFTSMANSHIP CREATED THE NEW VOKEY WEDGES B ob Vokey, knows Tour players will only put his new models in play if they are better than the last. With the new Titleist Vokey Design SM7 wedges already the most played model on the PGA Tour, it appears he has once again achieved that tall order. To improve upon the popular SM6, Vokey and his team refined the ‘Progressive Center of Gravity’ (CG), not only fine-tuning performance, but also enhancing feel. The CG has been moved higher in the high lofts for improved consistency regardless of the lie, while the lower lofts’ CG has been lowered for improved flight and distance control. Similarly increasing the control of the SM7, as well as spin, are the latest Spin Milled grooves, of which everyone is inspected to ensure maximum spin performance. The plated finished SM7s undergo an additional cutting process for even more spin and each SM7 head is heat treated for longer lasting spin. Available in three finishes and 23 varied loft/ bounce options, there is a Vokey SM7 for every swing type, course condition and preference. E
