ANNA NORDQVIST 2016 US WOMEN’S OPEN Locked in a three-hole playoff with Brittany Lang, Nordqvist inadvertently grounded her club in a fairway bunker on the second hole. The players moved to the par-5 18th believing they remained tied, while USGA officials watched slow motion video and assessed Nordqvist a two-shot penalty. Although the penalty was justified, the players being informed after Nordqvist played her third shot but before eventual winner Lang had done likewise, unquestionably changed each players’ strategy.
