COVER STORY HENRIK STENSON BEST: 1st (2009). 2017: T16. The owner of eight top-25s at The Players, including the 2009 title, Stenson seems to thrive on tougher layouts. And TPC Sawgrass is about as tough as they come on the PGA Tour. The Swede’s exemplary ball-striking is the hallmark of his game and so far 2018 has proven to be no different. The 42-year-old is ranked first in driving accuracy and greens in regulation on the PGA Tour, which is a perfect combination as he attempts to conquer Pete Dye’s sometimes diabolical design for a second time. CAMERON SMITH BEST: CUT (2017). 2017: CUT. The rare player on the list who hasn’t either won the tournament or gone very close, Smith is worth watching as one of the form players in the world. The 24-year-old also happens to live a short drive from TPC Sawgrass and practices regularly at the facility. With three top-10s already in 2018, including a tie for fifth at Augusta, the Queenslander has risen to a career high World No. 39 ranking – which makes him the third highest Australian and an outside chance to represent his country at the World Cup later in the year.
