Golf Australia Express : GA Express 287
THE MOMENT Aussie, Aussie, Aussie IT was a good weekend to be an Australian golfer, with good results all over the world and rising world rankings a common theme. In addition to Jason Day and Adam Scott recording ties for 5th and 11th respectively at The Players, Lucas Herbert (pictured) continued his phenomenal recent run of form by romping home with a 63 in Sicily to take a share of 3rd at the Rocco Forte Open. The Victorian missed a playoff by one, but his third European Tour top-10 in six months helped elevate Herbert to his highest position on the world ranking, No.143. The man who pipped Herbert and Day for the Australian Open in November, Cameron Davis, carried the flag on the Web.com Tour, firing matching 67s over the weekend at the Knoxville Open to finish T4 and rise to his own high mark of 157th on the world ranking. Elsewhere, Matthew Griffin and Brendan Jones missed a playoff at the Japan PGA Championship by a shot, while Dimi Papadatos claimed his maiden European Challenge Tour win in Portugal to become the World No.240; his best ever ranking.
