Golf Australia Express : GA Express 292 US Open wrap
THE MOMENT WATCH: THE HIGHLIGHTS OF TOMMY FLEETWOOD'S BRILLIANT 63 Fleetwood Max NOBODY played better on Sunday at Shinnecock Hills than Tommy Fleetwood. Indeed, only five other players have ever put together such an impressive round in the 118 editions of the United States Open. Fleetwood joined Johnny Miller (1963), Jack Nicklaus (1980), Tom Weiskopf (1980), Vijay Singh (2003) and Justin Thomas (2017) on the exclusive list of men to have shot a 63 at the US Open. More people have walked on the moon. But it still wasn’t enough for the Englishman to capture his first major title. Fleetwood had an eight-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole that would’ve forced a play-off against the eventual back-to-back champion Brooks Koepka, but it wasn’t to be (pictured). “I’ve got nothing but respect for how well Brooks did,” Fleetwood said. “It wasn't great for me, but it was great as a golfer to watch how he did it and watch how he closed it out.”
