Golf Australia Express : GA Express 297
THE MOMENT Tiger Roars Tiger Woods turned back the clock at Carnoustie and had the golfing world on the edge of its seat when he shot to the top of the leaderboard for the first time in nine years at a major championship. The ‘Big Cat’ was playing flawless golf, conquering the front nine in two-under 34 while the rest of the final few pairings played it in 17 over. But two loose shots on the 11th hole quickly ended his charge and he was forced to settle for a share of sixth place (his first top 10 at a major since the 2013 Open). There was also drama at the 18th hole when an idiotic ‘fan’ screamed when the 14-time major champion was at the top of his backswing. But Woods, who finished three strokes behind Francesco Molinari, remained admirable in defeat, heaping praise on his playing partner. “The way Francesco played today was beautiful,” he said.
