THE SENIOR OPEN MIGUEL ÁNGEL JIMÉNEZ WINNING SCORE: 12-under-par, 276. WINNER'S BAG EQUIPMENT NOTES • Jimenez’s victory at St. Andrews is his second senior major title of the year, the Spaniard having claimed the Regions Tradition in May, and comes with almost the same equipment setup. The 54-year-old replaced his 7-wood that has been a staple in his bag for many years, with an iBlade 3-iron that was better suited to the firm and windy Scottish conditions. While Jimenez, a noted putter tinkerer, also replaced his PING Sigma G Tyne mallet with the more traditional Dale Anser between victories. • The oldest European Tour winner in history is renowned for his creative and brilliant short game, and interestingly carries only two wedges in addition to the pitching wedge from his iron set, but it was Jimenez’s ball striking that was most impressive for the week, ‘The Mechanic’ found 83.3 percent of the Old Course’s greens in regulation. IT'S AMAZING TO WIN HERE. THIS IS MY SECOND MAJOR OF THE YEAR, AND IT'S AMAZING TO BE THE WINNER OF THE OPEN HERE AT ST.
