Golf Australia Express : GA Express 302
THE MOMENT Moving on up Cameron Smith has moved one step closer to achieving a year-long goal after finishing tied for third at the opening event of the FedEx Cup playoffs. The 25-year-old Queenslander, who hadn’t posted a top-five result since the Masters, jumped 37 places in the Cup standings and now sits at No.16 after his efforts at the Northern Trust. If Smith makes the cut at the second playoffs event (Dell Technologies Championship) he will almost certainly remain inside the top 30 and earn his first ticket to the Tour Championship. "To get into the Tour Championship has been a goal all year, so I'm going to be trying my guts out over the next couple of weeks," Smith said. Former World No.1 Adam Scott was ranked first in the field for Strokes Gained: Putting at the Northern Trust and finished tied fifth to rise 33 places to No.40 in the standings. Jason Day (T20) now sits in eighth place in the standings while Marc Leishman (T34) is 24th.
