Golf Australia Express : GA Express 313
COVER STORY Marc Leishman and Adam Scott – will all be missing from the field. “The fact that (Day, Leishman and Scott) aren’t there this year ... Obviously it’s a few big names that won’t be competing,” Davis said. “But there’s still going to be a strong field and you need to play your best golf if you want to get over the line.” That strong field includes the likes of Matt Kuchar – who arrives in Sydney fresh off his success in Mexico – and his fellow Americans Brandt Snedeker and Keegan Bradley. Meanwhile, Queenslander Cameron Smith will begin a three-week campaign at The Lakes, before playing alongside Leishman in the Melbourne World Cup and defending his title at the Australian PGA on the Gold Coast. Aussie legends Peter Senior, Greg Chalmers, Craig Parry, John Senden, Robert Allenby, Stephen Allan and Peter Fowler have also joined the field and will play alongside young guns like Dimi Papadatos and last week’s NSW Open winner, Jake McLeod. Nevertheless, the absence of the Australian “Big Three” means that Davis’ face has been chosen to promote the event around the country – something he is fully embracing as he prepares to begin his title defence. “Hopefully there is a few more people out there following me around early in the tournament,” Davis said. “I know the Aussie Open brings out pretty good crowds, so it would be great to be playing in front of one of those when coming down the stretch on Sunday, that’s the aim.” Obviously it’s a few big names that won’t be competing, but there’s still going to be a strong field. 0409 237 002 www.tascoachlines.com.au Email: firstname.lastname@example.org
