Golf Australia Express : GA Express 315
THE MOMENT Internationals take down Aussies Following on from the success of the integrated Australian All-Abilities Championship held alongside the Australian Open, the inaugural ISPS Handa Disabled Golf Cup took place at Metropolitan Golf Club behind the World Cup field on Friday and Saturday. Pitting six of Australia’s best against an International side comprising some of the best players from the R4GD pan disability ranking system, the event was contested in a match play format, with the International side the eventual winners 3.5-2.5. Two of the standouts from The Lakes, Juan Postigo of Spain and Ireland’s Brendan Lawlor produced the best golf of the final day, winning their match 5&4. The pair three-under through fourteen holes. But it was Englishman Ashely Harris' par putt at the last to halve he and partner Timo Klischan’s match against Shane Luke and Geoff Nicholas that proved the knockout blow. “You practise that to win a big event ... and to win (at) the World Cup is just amazing,” Harris told Golf Australia of the moment.
