COVER MINJEE LEE The 2018 Greg Norman Medallist returns to her national Open having made no secret of her desire to lift the Patricia Bridges Bowl. Lee, currently the World No.7, will be disappointed about missing the 54-hole cut in her title defence at the Vic Open last week ... But she has never missed the weekend at the Aussie Open and her results speak for themselves: T5 (2018); T3 (2017); T20 (2016); T7 (2015); T11 (2014) and T55 (2013). Although the 22-year-old recently said her focus for the year would be on the majors and her world ranking, becoming the first Australian to win her national Open in five years must surely remain a high priority. “I think you put more (pressure) on yourself because you have such high expectations competing in your home country and it’s your national title ... I think the expectation is the pressure,” Lee said prior to the event last year. The last time Lee competed in this event at The Grange (2016), she shot 69-76-67-72 to finish T20. So apart from one poor round – in difficult conditions, mind you – you get the feeling that someone of her talent should be right in contention this week.
