Golf Australia Express : Issue2
Those who head out for a hit on the shorter Legends course (6315m) can expect a different experience. The course landscape varies from ancient Moonah woodlands to open links land. Making it more pleasing visually than its big brother. With wider fairways, generous putting surfaces and a total course length more realistic for the average golfer, the Legends is a friendlier encounter. Plus there are plenty of risk- reward shots on offer, making it a lot of fun, too. One thing both courses share is superb condition of tees, fairways and greens, giving Moonah Links the reputation for being one of the best kept courses in the country. Now there’s more to be Moonah Links than two quality golf courses. After a round, try a treatment at the endota Spa—we can all do with a little pampering and it’s a great way to relieve tension. The comfortable resort accommodation is ideal for a good night’s rest. Plus, the clubhouse offers fine dining and with views to match. Oh, and for those who enjoy a fine drop there’s great local wine. Within minutes of the resort is the Mornington Peninsula wine region, famous for some of the countries renowned wines. It’s a detour well worth a visit. All in all, Moonah Links is a wonderful golf getaway. Check it out for yourself. But first, check out our Moonah experience below. OTG PLAY STAY EAT TO DO Beautifully pre- sented and challeng- ing golf courses with plenty of sandy haz- ards. With a number of holes integrated into the woodland, the Legends course is more of fun to play. See if you can drive the 2nd and 11th greens from the tee. There are a few on- course options at Pep- pers Moonah Links, including the stun- ning Open lodges for larger groups. Rooms are comfortable and well-appointed with stunning course views. Try the outdoor balcony shower—if you have game. After your round, a tasty parma and a beer—of which the choices are plentiful—will go down a treat. For fine dining, try Pebbles Restaurant and a local pinot. All meals are served with panoramic course views. Don’t miss the op- portunity to pamper yourself with an indul- gent spa treatment at the on-site endota spa. The famous Morning- ton Hot Springs is only a stone’s throw away, as is a host of world- famous Mornington Peninsula wineries and beautiful beaches. THE VERDICT: MOONAH LINKS Here’s what you can expect when you stay and play at Moonah Links
