Golf Australia Express : Issue 5
EDINBURGH COURSE Shorter Making up the triumvirate of excellent golf courses at Wentworth, the Edinburgh or “South” course is the newcomer to the family. Though younger than its siblings, the generation gap isn’t apparent. Sculpted from wonderfully mature woodland, this course has formed an attitude of its own. Gently undulating terrain gives each hole its own distinctive look. The layout is laden with dog- legging holes that escort you through the trees and approach tricky greens with fast putting surfaces. The course features a number of teeing areas to ensure golfers can play the course at a length that suits their game. Another comfort for the average golfer is the generous landing areas off the tees. Unleashing a big drive—one of golf’s pleasures—is a welcome opportunity. But bigger hitters will need to play the correct shot as strategically located pines often impede a clear shot to the green.
