Golf Australia Express : Issue 14
PLAYER THE YEAH, NA! KEVINNA will long be remembered for two things: his incredibly slow play on Tour, and carding a 16 on one hole at the Valero Texas Open. Well now there’s a third thing we should attribute to him—he’s a PGA Tour winner, too. After eight years on Tour, Na finally broke through for his maiden win at Justin Timberlake’s Shriners Hospital for Children Open last month, finishing two- shots ahead of fellow Las Vegas resident Nick Watney. But like much of the 28-year-old Korean- born American’s career, the win was not without controversy. That hullabaloo came after a “whiffed” tee shot at the 15th during his final round at TPC at Summerlin (see The View). Kevin Na finally broke through for his maiden PGA Tour win at the Shriners Open late last month. But can the controversial American ever shake off the 16-shot hole horror embedded in golf fans minds? We hope for his sake he can.
