Golf Australia Express : Issue 14
Annika Sorenstam is arguably the greatest female golfer to play the game. The Swede’s playing record is simply spectacular. So, too, is the Mission Hills course bearing her name. After all, she did design it. DREAM THE ON A MISSION IF ONLY YOU COULD... MISSION HILLS is a golfing haven. With an ‘over-par’ of courses you’ll no doubt run out of balls—and puff— trying to play them all. The Annika Course at the sensational complex was the first course design project by golfing great Annika Sorenstam. Set in dramatic, mountainous terrain in Shenzhen, China, the par 72, 6703-yard track is one of the most picturesque courses you’ll ever play. Preserving the natural beauty of the landscape was central to the design of the course, in line with Sorenstam’s philosophy. Featuring spectacular views of ancient terrain and mountains that rise more than 300m above the course, the dramatic elevations throughout the layout provide numerous panoramic tee shots perched high above spacious fairways. Whether you’re looking from tee to fairway or back from green to tee, the visual dynamics are sensational. With lush surrounds, magnificently manicured fairways and strategically placed bunkers it’s easy to forget to score your round on this challenging track. The green at the 7th is a particularly pleasant place to be, overlooking much of the course below, while the par- 4 18th found next to a large natural lake, provides the classic finishing hole to this stunning shotmaker’s course.
