BIG Q THE LITTLE RIPPERS POLL HAVE YOUR SAY ON THE STATE OF THE GAME... HOLE 7: 107 YARDS, PEBBLE BEACH GOLF LINKS INSPIRING, SPECTACULAR and with jaw-breaking views, this thrilling hole is a beauty and a beast. Although its length doesn’t qualify it for an Olympic sprint, consider this before you dash to the tee: During the final round of the 1992 US Open just one player from the final 30 managed to find the green in regulation. How rock-solid are your irons? HOLE 17: 137 YARDS, TPC SAWGRASS (STADIUM COURSE) PLENTY WHO’VE played this 17th only wished their tee- shot saw grass. That’s because more than 100,000 pills get dunked in the drink around its signature green every year. Even the pros whacked 50 balls in the water in one-round in 2007. You can rack-up a big number with the flick of a few errant wedge shots. A three here makes you a real player. HOLE 12 155-YARDS, AUGUSTA NATIONAL GOLF CLUB POINT YOUR fingers to the sky, close your eyes and make a prayer for a par. That’s because its devilishly difficult to land on angled putting surfaces with swirling wind and demanding hole locations. Makes this hole one of the deadliest holes in golf. Intersected by Rae’s Creek and framed by a botanical setting, it’s inspiring to view. Now make your wish come true. Amen. HOLE 16: 162 YARDS, TPC SCOTTSDALE (STADIUM COURSE) NO WATER here to worry about. And you won’t be thinking about club selection, pin placement or wind either. We’ll just give you a stadium full of 20,000 roaring fans ready to judge your efforts verbally. Good luck. In the past quarter century, the average score by the pros on this hole is 3.01. So if you can make a three here that’s gotta be cause for a party. When it comes to making a golf hole difficult, who says length matters? This quartet of little rippers show some of the shortest holes in championship golf. But on which one could you make par if you really had to?
