Golf Australia Express : Issue 41
W HAT A DIFFERENCE a single shot makes in golf. For Germany’s Sandra Gal, averaging one shot a round more than in her breakout 2011 year is causing her concern. Touted as one of the LPGA Tour’s up-and-comers after securing her maiden Tour win at the Kia Classic in 2011 and posting five top 10s and nine top 25s in that season, Gal’s 2012 campaign has been nothing short of disappointing. To date she’s managed just three top 25s in 2012 and her scoring average highlights that blowout. But it’s not all doom and gloom for the world No.40. In her last outing at the Wegmans LPGA the 27-year-old showed signs she’s heading back on track, finishing the major with a season-best finish of T12. Gal recorded three of her four rounds under par and if she can take that momentum into the second half of this season she’s a real chance to double her Ws count before year’s end.
