Golf Australia Express : Issue 41
THE DEFENDER L IKE MANY OTHERS ON THE PGA Tour, Fredrik Jacobson found it difficult to get off the mark. Prior to teeing it up at last year’s Travelers Championship, the 37-year-old had endured 187 starts and seven winless seasons in the US. But with three wins under his belt during the European Tour’s 2003 season, the ice-cool Swede knew he could also win in America. After rounds of 65-66-63-66 and a 20-under total at the 2011 Travelers, Freddie finished first, just one shot in front of American pair Ryan Moore and John Rollins. The Gothenburg native was superb with his driver all weekend finding every fairway in regulation and he became the first international winner of the Travelers since Greg Norman in 1995. Coming off a T15 at the US Open, Jacobson’s in fine form to defend his title this week. OTG FREDRIK JACOBSON
