Golf Australia Express : Issue 42
BRANDEN GRACE IS ON the move. Fortunately for the 24-year-old South African he's travelling in the right direction, swiftly heading north up the rungs as one of the world's best golfers. With a momentous leap from world No.271 at the start of the 2012 season, Grace now finds himself knocking on the door of the world's top 50. After an unflattering four seasons on Tour, Grace's thrilling run this season---which includes three wins on the European Tour---is delivering healthy dividends for the 2011 Q-School graduate. Banking nearly €1.3 million already this year---nearly four times his previous career earnings---Grace finished 51st at the US Open and 35th at the WGC-Cadillac Championship. Upon winning the Volvo China Open---his third title of the season---Grace became the third South African behind Ernie Els and Retief Goosen to achieve a season triple on the European Tour. And he has more wins under his belt this season than both Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods. Could we be looking at the next major champion? We'll have to wait a couple of weeks to find out.
