Golf Australia Express : Issue 43
I T SEEMS YANI TSENG has lost her mojo. She left it beside the 16th at Hamilton Farm Golf Club in New Jersey. That’s where the world No.1 shook hands with Candie Kung on May 19. She had just been ousted by a lowly- ranked compatriot in the third round of the Sybase Match Play Championship. And she hasn’t recovered since. Prior to the 3&2 defeat, Tseng played seven LPGA Tour events, winning three of them. She finished each inside the top 10 and posted just five of 28 rounds over par, recording an incredible aggregate of 73-under. But since Sybase, Tseng’s form has flipped 180 degrees. She’s played nine rounds in three events and hasn’t finished inside the top 10 in any. She’s scored just one round under par and currently sits on a seven- round consecutive over par stretch totalling 19-over par. At last week’s event she missed the cut for the first time in 26 starts, allowing Ai Miyazato to replace her on top of the money list. The 23-year-old will be hoping to turn her form around this week to win her first US Women’s Open.
