Golf Australia Express : Issue 45—The British Open
W ORLD NO.1 LUKE DONALD will start this week’s British Open as one of the hot favourites. But his track record at his ‘home’ Open is far from flattering. In fact, Donald has missed more cuts at The Open than any other major championship. Last year the 34-year-old missed the cut at Royal St George’s by three shots, failing to make the weekend for the sixth time in 11 attempts. The closest he came to the claret jug was in 2009 at Turnberry when he fired a brilliant final round 3-under 67 to finish T5, just two shots out of the Stewart Cink and Tom Watson playoff. Many believe Donald will one day become a major champion. But the stats suggest it ain’t gonna be this week. OTG Luke Donald Missing In Action: British Open Finishes NUMBERS DON’T LIE...
