Golf Australia Express : Issue 47
THE DEFENDER W HEN ADAM SCOTT OPENED up with an 8-under 62 at the 2011 WGC-Bridgestone Invitational, the Australian with the prettiest of swings was always going to be hard to catch. A second round par 70 was still good enough to share the 36-hole lead with American trio Rickie Fowler, Keegan Bradley and Ryan Moore, but that’s when Scotty put the pedal to the metal and took off. He was superb during the weekend rounds, following Saturday’s 4-under 66 with a 5-under 65 on Sunday to reach 17-under and four shots clear of Rickie Fowler and Luke Donald. Scott earned his eighth PGA Tour title while his caddie Steve Williams told anyone who would listen about his 145th win on the bag. OTG ADAM SCOTT
