Golf Australia Express : Issue 48—PGA Championship
Moving Up: Zach Johnson YEAR RANK EVENTS MONEY LIST 2012 3 19 $4,096,284 2011 44 23 $1,880,406 2010 19 25 $2,916,993 STAT: Money Leaders NUMBERS DON’T LIE... STAT THE Z ACH JOHNSON IS HAVING a rich season. Rich to the tune of four million smackaroos. Two PGA Tour wins thus far, including the Crowne Plaza International and the more recent John Deere Classic, have helped the Iowa native pocket far more in 2012 than his past two seasons. With more than $4 million in prizemoney, only Tiger Woods with three wins and Jason Dufner with two have earned more cash than Johnson this season. And for those who didn’t learn the lesson when Johnson won the 2007 Masters laying up at each par-5, the 36-year-old continues to prove you don’t need to be a long hitter to succeed on Tour. Johnson’s the poster boy for accuracy over distance, sitting 162nd on the Tour driving distance stat and 20th in driving accuracy. He also sits second in FedEx Cup points as we near the Playoffs and with his current form and level- headed approach to the game, Johnson could well turn 2012 into his most prosperous season yet. Hands up if you reckon he's happy about that. OTG
