Golf Australia Express : Summer of Golf 2012-13
DO YOU UNDERSTAND HOW THE FEDEX CUP PLAYOFFS SERIES WORKS? TELL US YOUR THOUGHTS CHARL SCHWARTZEL PLAYERS C HARL SCHWARTZEL FLEW UNDER the radar to win the 2011 Masters. That win at Augusta, where he became the first player in history to birdie the last four holes en route to winning a green jacket, ensured the South African wouldn’t go unnoticed ever again. Since joining the European Tour 10 years ago, the 28-year-old has bagged seven titles—including three wins in a 12-month stretch in 2010. This season he’s accrued four top 10s on the European and PGA tours combined. There’s little doubt that this quiet achiever is a star of world golf. And Australian golf fans get the chance to see Schwartzel up close and personal for the first time since last year’s Presidents Cup. Fellow countrymen Gary Player, Ernie Els and Retief Goosen are all past champions at Lake Karrinyup. Schwartzel will look to emulate their feats when he tees it up at the Perth International in October. OTG
