Golf Australia Express : Summer of Golf 2012-13
DO YOU UNDERSTAND HOW THE FEDEX CUP PLAYOFFS SERIES WORKS? TELL US YOUR THOUGHTS JASON DUFNER PLAYERS J ASON DUFNER IS RARELY spoken about as a star of golf. But after the unflappable American’s stellar 2012 PGA Tour season, he should be more often. The 35-year-old was one of the PGA Tour stories of the year, finally tasting success after 163 winless starts, two playoff losses—including the 2011 PGA Championship—and a stack of weekend lost chances. His maiden PGA Tour win came in May at the Zurich Classic when he overcame Ernie Els in a playoff. It kicked off an incredible 22-day period in which he also took out the Byron Nelson Championship. In all, The Duf has enjoyed eight top 10s and 14 top 25s this season and led the Tour in consecutive cuts made with 21. He finished third in the all-round stats ranking, fifth in birdie average and fourth in greens in regulation. Oh, and he also made his Ryder Cup debut. It has been a season of firsts for Dufner, so you’ve gotta like his chances at Lake Karrinyup Country Club when he makes his first appearance in Western Australia at the Perth International.OTG
