Golf Australia Express : Summer of Golf 2012-13
DO YOU UNDERSTAND HOW THE FEDEX CUP PLAYOFFS SERIES WORKS? TELL US YOUR THOUGHTS BO VAN PELT PLAYERS A MERICAN BO VAN PELT has been far from a prolific winner of events. After all, the 37-year-old has played in 318 PGA Tour events for just one title—the 2009 US Bank Championship. But forget about that—this guy knows how to get his hands on the cash, with nearly $18 million in career prize earnings to prove it. This season the 193cm Indiana native has banked more than $3 million thanks to receiving 10 top 10 prize cheques, equalling Rory McIlroy with the most top 10s on the PGA Tour this season. Van Pelt posted his season-best finish at the AT&T National in July, finishing second behind Tiger Woods and earning a tad more than $700,000. An impressive finish at Congressional Country Club sparked a strong back-end of the season where he finished outside the top 26 just once in his last nine PGA Tour events. Van Pelt’s stats are solid, too. He’s fourth in all-round ranking, seventh in birdie average and ninth in strokes gained-putting. He’s cashed up and ready to make a splash at the Perth International at Lake Karrinyup. Let’s see if Bo can get a win under his ‘Van Pelt’. OTG
