Golf Australia Express : Summer of Golf 2012-13
DO YOU UNDERSTAND HOW THE FEDEX CUP PLAYOFFS SERIES WORKS? TELL US YOUR THOUGHTS GREG NORMAN PLAYERS F OR YEARS AUSTRALIAN GOLF FANS fought tooth and nail just to get a sighting of Greg Norman. During the 1980s and 90s, an Australian Summer of Golf wasn’t the same without the imposing Queenslander in action. He was golf’s hottest player, spending 331 weeks at world No.1—only Tiger Woods has spent more time at golf’s top spot. In total Norman stormed to 88 wins around the world—including the 1986 and 1993 British Open titles. He was voted the 1995 PGA Tour Player of the Year and remains the only Australian to win the award. Aided by standout seasons in ’86, ’90 and ’95 when he topped the PGA tour money list, as well as the European Tour Order of Merit in ’82, The Shark became the first golfer to amass $10 million in career prizemoney. Has he got one more win left in him? Who knows. Either way you can spot the great Australian golfer at the Palmer Coolum Resort during the Australian PGA Championship. OTG
