NEW HEAD-TO-HEAD EVENT THE LPGA has unveiled a $1.6m global match play competition between nations that will kick off in 2014. The International Crown will feature teams of four from eight countries over four days, with the inaugural event to be held from July 21-27 at Caves Valley Golf Club in Maryland, USA. Countries will be selected based on their players' rankings, with the current top eight featuring South Korea, USA, Japan, Sweden, Australia, Taiwan, Spain and England. AROUND THE TRAPS ELITE WOMEN HEADING DOWN UNDER THE Women's Australian Open has attracted a cracker field, with five of the world's top 10 players to headline the event at Royal Canberra from February 14 to 17. World No.6 Suzann Pettersen, No.7 So-Yeon Ryu and No.8 Jiyai Shin have now signed on alongside world No.1 Yani Tseng and No.3 Stacy Lewis to complete one of the strongest Women’s Open fields in history. Veteran Laura Davies and teen star Lexi Thompson will also make the trip. OTG
