Golf Australia Express : March 2013
SAY WHAT? LETTER OF THE MONTH YOUR THOUGHTS... THE MAJOR reason that it won’t take Rors long to get more Ws is that today—more than ever before—there is the sameness of offering in all of the top selling manufacturers’ clubs. Give him a month or two at tops and I reckon he will be shredding the world's best and this story will be long dead. — GREG CASSIDY, VIA EMAIL TELL US YOUR THOUGHTS TELL US YOUR THOUGHTS *Ed’s Note: I reckon Rors is hoping you’re right Greg. Although his petulant walking off at The Honda would suggest he’s battling some real golf demons at the moment. Here's hoping for a return to the Rory of old, rather than a cold, stand-offish Tiger reincarnate. Just saying. ON RORY'S FORM SLUMP... I FULLY agree that it takes a lot more time for the player to replace their old gear in order to meet the commercial arrangement with a new sponsor. But who knows whether it's a pro or a con to the player within such a short period. Perhaps Rory will fall in love with his new Nike clubs in a few months. No one can tell that yet.. —PAN HU, VIA EMAIL WHAT ARE the stats of Rory's game since he switched to Nike? Could that be his problem? —RICKY STEWART, VIA EMAIL THE LETTER OF THE MONTH RECEIVES A DOZEN CALLAWAY HEX BLACK TOUR BALLS ON CHANGING EQUIPMENT... IN REGARDS to Mark Allen's February column, 'Rookie Mistake' he says there are "six different equipment categories that need a change from time to time". Other than the ones listed, what else is there? Tees, markers? —BRENDAN POOTS, VIA EMAIL MARK, I THINK I can be sure in saying a lot of people think you are jumping the gun here ['Rookie Mistake', Mark Allen]. I learnt something very early in my sporting career: Form is temporary, class is permanent. And one other thing, never, ever rev up a champion! Time will tell [with Rory]. —EUGENE NIX, VIA EMAIL ON MONTY'S 2013 HALL OF FAME INDUCTION... Why not Monty? I think he will fit in well with those other great golfers, George Bush & Dwight Eisenhower. World Golf Hall Of Fame...give me a break! —JOHN CRITCHER, VIA EMAIL
