Golf Australia Express : March 2013
CANTLAY A MAIDEN WINNER IN COLOMBIA CALIFORNIAN kid Patrick Cantlay became the second-youngest winner in web.com Tour history with a four- stroke victory at the Colombia Championship. Cantlay recorded his first pro win at just 20 years 11 months and 15 days old, a mark bettered only by Australia’s Jason Day, who was 19 when he won the Legend Financial Group Classic in 2007. AROUND THE TRAPS TWIN TEAM EVENT AUSTRALIA and China will this week face off in the little-known Championship Tour, a 12-man team event to be played over two days at Twin Waters Golf Club on the Sunshine Coast. The format pits the winners of the China Golf Club League against our own Holden Scramble. The return leg will be played in Shanghai in May. SNEDEKER TAKES RIBBING IN HIS STRIDE HE'S CURRENTLY leading the FedEx Cup and men's money lists, but world No.4 golfer Brandt Snedeker will be the only member of the top 50 missing from the WGC-Cadillac Championship. Snedeker, who won the AT&T at Pebble Beach last month, is still battling a rib injury that kept him out of the WGC-Accenture Match Play event. "My ribs do feel better," Snedeker said in a statement. "However, the area is still tender and I feel that I need to take next week off and continue to rest." OTG
