Golf Australia Express : May 2013
SAY WHAT? LETTER OF THE MONTH EVER HAD to take a new ball out of the bag because of a big angry roo? Well now I can say I have. Over the Easter break, I hit a drive to the left of the fairway--nothing unusual--only to find it had come to rest at the feet of what seems a 10 foot tall (and angry) Eastern Grey. Needless to say I didn't 'play it as it lay'. He didn't want to move (and I couldn't) so instead I went to the bag for another pill. Thankfully I least had some balls there! — STU NORMAN, VIA EMAIL TELL US YOUR THOUGHTS TELL US YOUR THOUGHTS THE LETTER OF THE MONTH RECEIVES A DOZEN CALLAWAY HEX BLACK TOUR BALLS ON ADAM SCOTT... WATCHING our boy Adam Scott do what no other Australian could--win The Masters--provided me and my family with so much pleasure and pain. Next time Scotty, just win it convincingly--I don't think I'll survive another one of those playoffs! Well done mate. —A DAM SMITH, VIA EMAIL A GREEN jacket coming to Australia? Who would ever have thought it possible. Congratulations Adam Scott--you made a nation smile. —MELISSA WARREN, VIA EMAIL I WAS so glad to see Adam Scott win The Masters, especially after the misfortune at the British Open last year. This guy represents our country with such class that you can't help but always barrack for him. Well done Adam. You've filled many of us old timers with an immense amount of pride. I wish you many more majors. —GERRARD BROWN, VIA EMAIL ON TIGER WOODS... CAN anyone explain how on earth Tiger Woods was not disqualified from The Masters? Anyone else signs an incorrect scorecard and it's "sayonara" without any consideration. But, oh no, not for Tiger. Two shots should do it. How blatantly corrupt is this Tour that it makes rules on the run to suit their favourite American? The arrogance of these people and their organisation astounds me. Thank god Tiger didn't win or we would have had World War III on our hands. It's enough to switch it off entirely. —MICK FLANAGAN, VIA EMAIL TIGER Woods should have withdrawn from The Masters for his illegal drop. It's clear that big dollars and viewership were the reasons for the decision not to DQ him, but as the world No.1 golfer Woods should have shown more respect for the honour and integrity of the game and taken himself out. Can't say I'm surprised by him, though. —MARK AINSLEY, VIA EMAIL YOUR THOUGHTS...
